Margaret Brownley never dreamed that one day she would write a book on grief. The published author of 22 novels, and more than 400 articles, Margaret's writing career took an abrupt turn when her oldest son, Kevin, died following a long illness, and she began writing articles on grief to help ease her own pain.

It wasn't until a year following his death that she got the idea to write the book. Someone told her to "get over it" and she was so stunned, she could hardly speak. But the comment got her thinking: was there something wrong with her that even after a year, the pain had not subsided?

Searching for answers, she turned to the Bible, and discovered God's surprising plan for healing heart and soul, which contradicted everything that society expected of her. God never tells anyone to "get over it" but He does give specific guidelines for working through grief, and these guidelines became the basis of her book.

Margaret lives in Southern California with her husband, George, happily surrounded by five grandchildren, and is presently at work on another book.

Margaret is a popular speaker and has spoken to women's groups, religious and charitable organizations, and national conferences across the country. She would love to speak to your group. Though she would be happy to customize the talk to fit your audience, the following popular topics are available:

Grieving God's Way

While death has always been a part of life, grief hardly seems to have a place in today's fast-paced, quick-fix society. Society's way of grieving is to numb the pain and “get over it” as quickly as possible. Grieving God's way leads to a deeper, more profound faith, new hope, and healing of heart and soul.

Mining the Grieving Soul

Discover how a richer, more meaningful and creative life can evolve from grief and pain. While it's tempting to hurry through grief, it's important to mine it for all possible treasures. The process of grief is a process of discovery. We will probably learn more about ourselves, about our faith and strengths, about our friends and family during grief than at any other time in life.
